For the first class of IXD 102: An introduction to communication design, we started to look at the history of communication design starting from the future.
To think of how far design has came compared to many years ago is mind blowing. Still to this day we are improving to make new inventions to impact life and people. The evolvement of designing such as AI, VR and AR have been the newest most popular inventions. Tap Strap 2 peripheral controller is also a new invention that allows any surface to be a keyboard, even thin air! The device uses ring like pieces to go on your fingers and as long as you know the keys you are capable of using this device.
Sometimes it can be scary to think how much we rely on technology to control or just be in our lives. I would be completely lost if I had no way of having technology such as a phone or laptop however, sometimes I do wonder if we are inventing pieces of technology that are stripping away the human experience and that are morally incorrect. As I am trying to work towards becoming a designer myself I have a small worry that new inventions could be made where companies or businesses do not need authentic creativity as the internet and technology can do it for them for no price. I do think its important for designers to be aware of that fact, however, the likelihood of this happening is small.
