For the last class of the semester, we had a critique class. This class was to look over how we were getting on in our websites. Paul went over everyone's’ website and gave some feedback. Others in the lecture also gave me some feedback. Everyone uploaded their websites onto a Miro board, below is what I uploaded.
Overall, I was quite pleased with my website, I knew I needed to go over some problems that I had, such as the footer of the website. Paul was fairly pleased with my website and gave some advice such as the positioning of the navigation text to the centre. He also said that the footer was clearly in need of some fixing up. Which was expected.
Firstly, I needed to fix the text in navigation as it was slightly off centre, which can be seen below. I fixed this by putting the navigation links into a <article>, which resizes the margin the text is in. This was a slight change, however it made a big difference for the aesthetic.
A second issue was the footer, I tried many different ways to fix this problem but somehow I wasn't able to do so. Paul helped me align the text into the centre of the screen, this looks so much better now the text is centred and the icon spacing is less dramatic. A classmate also left a note beside my work that navigation needs a bit of fixing, which I really appreciate. They also said the colour scheme of my website was great.
Another classmate left a note stating that the text could be made a darker colour in order for those who are visually disadvantaged can also read the text. I agree with this comment as I want to make my website easy to use and allow for everyone to read and understand this. I decided to change the text to match the navigation and footer box as this is a dark brown almost black colour which will stand out against the yellow and orange making it extremely easy to read.
The last note that was left was commenting on the padding around the text and between blocks of text. I understand this completely and decided I will make the padding between larger, similar to book when moving to the next page. I made sure the padding was spacious enough to allow the reader to differentiate different sections of the web page.
Below is the final version of my website after the critique.

I am more than pleased with how it has came out and the functionality of the website. I am always happy to hear others opinions on my work as it can only be helpful. I really appreciate Paul and my classmates for helping improve my web page and I think it looks a lot better than before. I am glad that we had the critique as our final class of the first semester as I am more confident in my website and am now just working on the final touches before I have completed all my first semester projects for IxD 101.
I am really happy with the outcome of all my projects and am really excited for the second semester of this course. I did not expect to enjoy University as much as I do, however I am excited for a couple weeks of no work and enjoying Christmas!
