For our first week we had an introduction to dissertations and idea generation. We looked at what is expected of us and the different methods we can use for idea generation. Over the summer, I had done some independent research into topics I am interested in, therefore I already have some ideas.

Wicked prpblems are complex problems that are difficult or impporssible to solve. Such as Poverty or Climate Change, These problems are good to look at for idea generation. The IXD Foundation states the quote below.
<aside> 👹
“Wicked problems are problems with many interdependent factors making them seem impossible to solve. Because the factors are often incomplete, in flux, and difficult to define, solving wicked problems requires a deep understanding of the stakeholders involved, and an innovative approach provided by design thinking. Complex issues such as healthcare and education are examples of wicked problems.”

“The primary step is deeply understanding the problem, as solutions may become evident once fully grasped. Indeed, there's a saying, "If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions." Thus, investing time in understanding, redefining, and negotiating the problem can pave the way to practical solutions. In the realm of wicked problems, creative thinking and individualized approaches are paramount.”

Ronan then showed us his new AI tool, him and his colleague had been working on. This tool works similarly to ChaGBT but presents the ideas in a graph, that gives you different paths of answers. The answers branch into different sections. Personally, I really liked how the answers were displayed in a mind map form, however, the answers were quite vague and I didn't find it accessible that you had to click on each to see the full answer.
