This week, Ronan completed a workshop where he introduced us to a new software called LottieLab. This software allows us to animate prototypes. I have never used AfterEffects or other animation tools before so this was really exciting!
For our first animation we created a simple loading icon using some keyframes and 2 circles. This was extremely simple and Ronan explained very well how each feature works.
We then looked at the reveal path off set which allows the coloured lines to spina round and make it look like the icon is loading. Below you can see the keyframes I set to make the blue circle spin around.
Then we made another animated which included different shapes and icons. This animation was to showcase sending an application. This wasn't as hard as we already had a bit of knowledge on how to use LottieLabs, although this was definitely more complex. I played about with the duration of the animation and small actions so it would move exactly how I wanted it to.
Below is my final annimation.
Overall, this class was really fun and I defiantly want to include some animation in one of my projects. I also feel more confident in animating prototypes as we went through a step by step tutorial. I feel like this will work well within my project and will improve the users experience. We were also told that we can import designs from tools like Figma using Lottieās plugin, I think I might try to animate my logo to make the stars twinkle.
