This week we looked at content curation & where it comes from. This is a continuation from last weeks lecture when we looked at what content is and the different types of content. We also looked some useful tips for enhancing our Autonomous Vehicle Project.
Content Curation is a process, which includes finding and sorting through content that has already been made and working with this content. It is to organise the content into a more valuable way where the most useful content is the most accessible and working your way down to the least useful. This can range from organising it into a blog, website, social media, to organising an exhibition in a museum.
You may be asked to organise content that has been provided by a client, and put this content into a website, apps, dashboards, wireframes, prototypes etc.
Content can be self generated through blogging and articles, more recently there has been a rise in podcasts and YouTube vlogs which are also considered self generated content.
User generated content is considered as social media posts such as Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok etc. Users can generate and post their own content therefore they have curated conteent.
Websites such as Wikipedia where anyone can edit or add information is considered a third party site where people can curate their own content.
