For the introduction week, we have been asked to complete our own CV. This will be extremely helpful during placement and future career opportunities. I am familiar with CVs as I have made many in the past for part time jobs, however I do not know the etiquette of a professional CV. After the introduction class, we started back into the usual lectures.

In this class we were asked to come up with some attributes that we are hoping to find in a job, colleagues or employment and write them on a post it note. After doing so we stuck them up on the board and then went through as a class and put them all into different categories.

The most important category to people was the Co Workers and Colleagues, and environment. I have had many jobs that where my co workers have been great company making the job itself easier and more enjoyable. The lecture explained after that it is important to know what you are looking for in a job and what you aren't. This is because business’ will take advantage of you and your work, from experience I can say this is 100% accurate. An example to the lecturer provided was that Companies may assume you will work over your contracted hours and make you feel guilty for not so.

The post it notes I had written were, “Flexibility” in things such as remote working and time off when necessary as jobs can become overwhelming. I also wrote “Creativity” in your projects, and “Unformal” with relationships with employers to ensure a relaxed stress free environment. In my opinion, I want my job to have friendly, encouraging, and creative co workers. I believe this is important for employee well being, as well as collaborations and productivity. A positive work environment allows you to be relaxed and encouraged to work well with no pressure. I also think flexibility in the workspace is great too. Jobs that offer remote working, flexible hours, project based assignments and new courses to develop skills are the most attractive to me.

The next task was to select a random post-it with a job title on it. Keep it a secret while your partner must guess the job title within 20 questions. The job title I had selected was a “Music Therapist”, snd my partners was a “Food Connoisseur”. I had actually managed to guess this correct and my partner guessed mine. The main questions that gave away a lot were “Do you work with people?”, “Do you help people?” or “Do you work with something in specific?”.

Tips for Writing Content

I had a look at a website that provided tips for writing CV content. At first I was really confused on what was suppose to be included in your CV as we had no previous job experience, however companies are not looking for experience as they know we have none but they are looking for passion.
